History and Scope
Landkidzink was founded in 1994 by Mark Davenport, first as a newsletter (1994-2009) and since 2014 as a repository for archival materials documenting the history of the Gate Hill Cooperative, its Black Mountain College alumni founders, and early members. The collection includes historical material (letters of correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, unpublished writings, poetry and ephemera), an extensive digital image collection, printed matter (books, magazines, journals, music scores), original artwork, plus film and audio of diverse media. The collection also holds the recorded interviews of over 70 figures connected to the early years of the Gate Hill Cooperative (1954-1974) conducted by Davenport between 1994-2022.
